Global Talent Visa UK: cost, fees and processing time
The application fees are £766 per person: £561 for the endorsement and £205 for the visa (or £766 in one go on the prize route). On top of that the Immigration Health Surcharge is usually £1,035 per person for each year of the visa. For one person on a 5-year visa, government costs come to about £5,941.
The Global Talent visa is one of the cheaper UK routes in application fees, and one of the more expensive once you add the health surcharge for a long visa. Most people budget for the first number and get surprised by the second. Here is the full picture as of the date at the top of this page.

You pay the endorsement fee when you submit Stage 1. If the endorsement is refused you don't go on to pay the visa fee.
A worked example
The health surcharge is paid upfront for the whole length of the visa. You can choose a visa of up to 5 years, and most people do.

GOV.UK lists some groups who pay a reduced surcharge or none, so check the current rules if one might apply to you. Other small costs to plan for: biometrics or identity checks, document translations, and a TB test if you're applying from a listed country, including India.
Choosing a shorter visa to spread the cost
You can ask for fewer than 5 years and extend later. That lowers the upfront surcharge but means paying another application fee when you extend. If your plan is to settle after 3 years on Exceptional Talent, a 3-year visa can make sense. If you're on Exceptional Promise and settling at 5 years, a 5-year visa avoids a second application.

In practice, someone with strong evidence and letters already lined up can go from starting the pack to a visa decision in about three months. The slowest part is almost always the letters, because busy senior people take time to write good ones.
Settlement and the next set of costs
Settlement (indefinite leave to remain) is possible after 3 years for researchers and for Exceptional Talent in tech and the arts, and after 5 years for Exceptional Promise. Settlement has its own fee, plus the Life in the UK test and English requirement. The government has consulted on longer settlement periods under an "earned settlement" model. Its published proposals keep a 3-year path for Global Talent, but check the rules in force when you apply.
What to budget beyond government fees
If you use an adviser, ask for a fixed quote that says what is included: evidence review, letter guidance, the endorsement submission, the visa application and any reapplication if the first attempt fails.
